WaG has one mission. Excellence in service.
WAG was a dream for many years for the New England native and WAG founder Maria Erna. Her career in radio, business consulting, real estate, design, and renovation kept her busy for 30+ years, and included her relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, while traveling throughout the US and Europe. Her business travels had her using dog day care, boarding, and grooming services often for her German Shepherd - Rowan, Australian Shepherd Mix - Diesel and Whippet Mix - Whitney. As her dogs grew older, Maria became fond of self service dog wash salons, knowing where her pups sore spots were. She gleaned what she liked, and more importantly what she an others did not like about the many businesses she patronized.
The biggest complaints were grooming rooms are all the way in the back so you could not see or hear where your dog was going, states like New Hampshire that do not require any certification to become a groomer (and the sad stories that went with it), and low quality products.
Incorporating her personal preferences of how she wants her pets treated, the type of salon she wants to walk into, combined with her business savvy, WaG LLC was born.
WaG only employs groomers that have been through grooming school, possess years of experience, excellent grooming and people skills, and are trained in Pet CPR and First Aid. The products are premium, never tested on animals, made in the USA, and free of harmful chemicals and perfumes. Natural fragrances are botanical-based from extracts like oatmeal, almond, peppermint, tea tree, lavender, and ginger, to name a few. Finally, the grooming salon is right up front when you walk in with a window that you can see from out side.
Future plans include additional locations, the addition of a grooming academy, and advocating for structured training, apprenticeships, and certification requirements with focus on pet safety and shop cleanliness for people in the pet grooming industry.
She invites everyone to visit with your pet for a tour.
